Weekly Homework

 

The assignment book and homework folder are considered our "best friends".  Please be sure to check your child's purple folder each night. Anything in the"Return to School" side should be returned; anything in the "Keep at Home" side should come out of the folder and stay home.  It is your child's repsonsibilty to make sure they empty their homework folder each morning they come to school.  

 

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday unless otherwise noted.

 

Reading: Students should read for at least 15 minutes per night. That can include taking turns reading with you, you reading to them, or having your child read quietly to themselves.  Students will keep track of their nightly reading in a R.E.D Folder.  Detailed Information will be sent home about how this homework will work.  More information will be shared on Meet The Teacher Night.

 

Word Study: On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, please complete a word study activity that coincides with our weekly phonics skill. The Word Study Choice Menu should remain in the back of the purple homework folder until new monthly choices are provided.  This homework will be due on Thursday.  On Thursday night, please study for the word study assessment that will occur each Friday. 

 

Math: This year we will be implementing a new math program.  Homework will look different for math.  Students will keep a Math Home Link Journal at home where they will be able to access their homework.  Student will also be completing nightly Math Boxes to reinforce skills. More information will be shared at Meet the Teacher Night.   

 

Please be sure to check your child's purple folder each night. These "BEST FRIENDS" should come to school each and every day!
